ASSIGNMENT 1: TORUS
Material:
- Metal Sheet
- Marker
Tools:
- Mallet
- Stump
- English Wheel
- Metal Curved Dolly
Step 1:
Using a marker to distinguish the central curve and the reverse curve. The three inner rectangles are the area that I want to make the central curve. Then put the metal sheet over the stump and roll it in order to create a curved shape.
Step 2:
Shrinking the middle of the metal sheet on the stump by a mallet. Remember to put the stump on a sandbag to prevent it rolling away.
Step 3:
After the desired inner curve created, it is time to make the reverse curve on the both sides. Putting the metal sheet over the metal curved dolly and use a mallet to stretch the reverse curves.
Step 4:
English Wheel was used to smooth the surface. If the curve is not desirable, try to get back to the previous steps to stretch a better form. For the final product, it should have a symmetric shape.
