ASSIGNMENT 1: TRAY
Material:
Aluminium Sheet
Laser Cut Template
Wood Template
Tools:
Disc Sander
Hand Lever Shear
Mallet
Step 1:
Take the laser cut template and two pieces of rectangular wood templates from the tutors. There have different sizes of circles on the templates. Then choose one of the circles and draw the radius on each corner of the wood template. At this time, I have chosen the 50mm diameter circle.
Step 2:
After drawing the curves on the corner, then use the Disc Sander to cut it.
Step 3:
Get the Aluminium sheet and cut it to 200mm x 110mm. Also use the 50mm diameter circle to draw the curve on each corner. Then mark lines 10mm inward each side. After that, Hand Lever Shear can be used to cut the corner.
Step 4:
Clamping the metal sheet in between two wood templates. It is important to ensure it clamped tight enough. Otherwise, it will move when you are hammering. Then, use mallet to do the hammering until the edges turn down at 90 degrees.
Step 5:
Take out the tray from the wood template. Finally, cut out the excessive part of the corners.
Step 6:
Match the tray with my partner. The upper one was mine.
